Visit to the British Library - Tuesday 3 March 2026
A group of Scriveners has been treated to an illuminating tour of the British Library.

Our knowledgeable guide Kevin Mehmet (a librarian who also happens to be a member of the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers) gave us the inside story on some of the treasures on display – such as the final and definitive version of the Magna Carta (1225) and the near six-foot tall Klencke Atlas (1660) - as well as showing us the inner workings of such a vast collection. It truly is a mind-boggling logistical challenge in storage and facilitating visitors’ viewing of the many millions of pieces held on and off-site.

Our thanks are due to Margaret Hill, for organising this special visit.
