Quill Pen Lunch - Tuesday 18 November 2025

by Linzi James 16 Dec 2025

Our annual Quill Pen Lunch took place at Mansion House only eleven days after the Lady Mayor took office during the Silent Ceremony in the Great Hall of Guildhall. The lunch provided the wonderful opportunity to meet the Lady Mayor very early in her year of office and to present her with the swan's quill which she used to sign her declaration at the Silent Ceremony. The Master Scrivener, Andrew Claudet, also presented the Lady Mayor with a donation from the Company's charity to the Lord Mayor's Appeal and the Master's wife, Hazel, presented a fountain pen to the Mayoral Consort.

In turn the Lady Mayor presented the Master with a glass paperweight containing i) stone from the floor of the Whispering Gallery of St Paul's Cathedral and ii) material collected from the foreshore of the Thames. An unusual and unique gift. In addition, the Clerk was presented with a pewter jam spoon featuring the City of London dragon with emblems of the Lady Mayor's Livery Companies set into its wings.
